    The Director of Student Engagement reports to the Associate Dean, Medical Sciences Student Affairs and has primary responsibility in four areas:

    • Provide leadership, supervision and budget accountability to the Department of Campus Life which oversees SGA, 50+ student clubs and organizations, and intramural sports;
    • Provide leadership, supervision and budget accountability to the Department of Housing and Residence Life that oversees a 1,300+ bed residential community, and
    • Provide leadership, program development, implementation, and evaluation oversight for the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee and continually improve all student engagement efforts of RUSM on the Barbados Campus
    • Utilizing a coaching and mentoring approach provide supervision, evaluation, and staff development in a positive manner
    • Contribute to the updates for the RUSM Student Handbook; recommend, implement, and where applicable enforce policies and procedures as they relate to the student experience and environment.
    • In the absence of the Associate Dean attends campus leadership meetings on his/her behalf; act as a liaison with administrators. Participate in meetings and seminars related to student development matters.
    • Serve as resource to students and other campus departments such as Security, Counseling, Health, and Academics and as liaison in student concerns and student behavior; shares evening and weekend ‘on-call’ duties.
    • Works closely with the Student Government Association, mentoring student leaders in their tasks and responsibilities of providing a student voice, in a professional manner, to all RUSM constituencies – especially Administration, student groups, and faculty advisors.
    • Works in a collaborative manner with remote staff based throughout the US to ensure a smooth transition for on and off boarding of all students
    • Assist Associate Dean on projects/activities and program assessment and evaluation as directed
    • Assist the Office of Housing and Residence Life with student arrival and move-in process.
    • Major contributor and participant to Semester Start-Up Meetings
    • Attends regular Student Affairs Leadership Team meetings

    Oversees Barbados Student Affairs team in the absence of the Associate Dean.

    Qualifications

    Candidates must hold a Master's degree (PhD, EdD preferred) in higher education administration, college student development, counseling, or related field.

     

    Desirable experiences include:

    • Experience in one or more of the areas overseen by the position
    • Prior supervision; departmental oversight preferred
    • Program development and assessment
    • International travel
