    Ross University School of Medicine is slated to permanently relocate our Medical Sciences campus to Bridgetown, Barbados in January 2019.  We are currently seeking a Senior AV Technician to add to our new team in Bridgetown!

    The Senior Audio Visual Technical will be responsible for operating audiovisual equipment to provide or complement educational programs offered by RUSM.

    Responsibilities

    • Schedule lectures in their respective category on Lecture Capture System on a daily basis.
    • Edit, publish and back up recorded content on the distribution platform such as internal and external servers.
    • Edit videos of RUSM functions recorded by the AV department.
    • Provide technical support to RUSM community.
    • Prepare audio visual equipment for RUSM classes or events prior to the scheduled start time when assigned by supervisor of the Audio Visual Department.
    • Assist with troubleshooting problems related to audio-visual equipment used for RUSM sanctioned multimedia activities.
    • Setup and operate equipment such as cameras, lights, and microphones to film and record lecture sessions and other multimedia productions.
    • Assist with the maintaining, troubleshooting, repair and installation of audio-visual equipment and systems including monitors, computers, cameras, microphones, projectors, screens, small PA systems, various software and AV system controls.
    • Assist the RUSM Community (faculty, staff and students) with the production and distribution of audio visual content.
    • Responsible for recording/capturing RUSM classroom lectures using the Lecture Capture system when assigned by the supervisor of the Audio Visual department.
    • Perform general maintenance and up keep of the Lecture Capture system including system & software upgrades.
    • Troubleshoot basic end-user difficulties associated with the Lecture Capture system.
    • Record private lectures for the purpose of maintaining lecture integrity, i.e., where lecture recordings are corrupted or incomplete.
    • Ensure safety and integrity of A/V Equipment at the end of the work day. This should include a survey of A/V service areas including the class rooms.
    • Responsible for staffing A/V On-Call schedule.
    • Perform other duties commensurate as assigned with the position which may be assigned from time to time.
    • Completes other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    • Must possess a Technical Certificate or at least 5-7 years experience in Audiovisual Techniques and or another related field.

    • Sound understanding of electronics, sound, multimedia production and recording equipment operation; technical aptitude.

    • Video filming and or editing would be an asset/preferred.

    • Basic electrical and electronic theory.

    • Barbados electrical codes.

    • Experience with electrical tools and material necessary to select appropriate instruments and test equipment.

    • Hazardous electrical materials handling and disposal of waste streams.

    • Software programming would be an asset/preferred.
       
      Must have experience with the following:
    • Video Software editing.
    • Multiple FTP applications and basic FTP procedures.
    • Windows 2012/2016 Server System Administration including backup, directory structure & user account management and permissions.
    • Lecture Capture systems such as Panopto or other products providing the similar service.
    • Ability to use power and hand tools such as screw drivers, hammers, soldering guns, cable crimping tools, testers etc.
    • End user operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, iOS, Android.
