    Ross University School of Medicine is slated to permanently relocate our Medical Sciences campus to Bridgetown, Barbados in January 2019.  We are currently seeking a IT Analyst to add to our new team in Bridgetown!

    The IT Analyst will participate as a member of the Technical Support team providing technical support and solutions to customers. Will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where technology, experience and customer service skills will be challenged on a daily basis. Will assist with the designing, development and/or procurement of computer solutions to fulfill business requirements ensuring the proper technology.
     
    Must have demonstrated technical expertise and work experience in providing technical support with the ability to communicate and work directly with customers to identify and resolve technical issues. The individual must have a basic understanding of all aspects of computer application system implementation. The individual must be familiar with the development life cycle of software solution.

    Responsibilities

    • Work with customers to ensure the best use of their existing application systems and suggest changes as is necessary.
    • Act as a technical specialist on project teams and for designated application systems, providing:
      • Formulation of system's scope and objectives, based on a thorough understanding of business processes and user needs as well as a thorough understanding of the available technologies.
      • Ensures that the various stages of system construction/procurement, integration, testing and implementation are efficiently planned and completed.
      • Undergo whatever technical training is needed to implement the solution.
      • Execute custom or design programming as required.
      • Prepare an adequate support plan for the application to ensure ongoing client support including but not limited to:
        • User training
        • IT Helpdesk technical training
        • Support documentation
        • Vendor support contract
        • Application Update process and life cycle
        • Backup  and recovery strategy
    • Contributes to the delivery of new applications and to the maintenance and enhancement of existing applications as a resource for resolution of technical issues.
    • Researches, analyses and documents technical requirements of moderately to highly complex systems based on a full understanding of the functionality required by the client.
    • Under supervision, prepares feasibility studies for new technology, drafts detailed specifications and produces implementation plans for approved changes, ensuring that the various stages of system construction, integration, testing and implementation are carefully planned and carried out.
    • Provides leadership, guidance and training to less experienced staff and oversees their work on components of systems. Keeps management informed of the status of all activities.
    • Must be available for off-hours telephone or onsite support as required.
    • Must be able to work as part of a team to troubleshoot, perform root-cause analysis, identify and isolate technical issues, and work in a collaborative effort with other team members as necessary to quickly and effectively resolve technical issues and provide timely status and progress reporting to customers.
    • Must be willing to take ownership of the issue analysis and resolution efforts and commit to "doing what it takes" to resolve technical issues regardless of the effort or timeframe required.
    • Must be able to work in a ticketing system environment where the assignment of tasks and their resolutions are track by tickets.
    • Completes other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    • 3+ years working as part of a team that designs or procures and deploys computer solutions.
    • Proficient knowledge of systems development and project life-cycle methodologies and existing industry standards.
    • Exhibit reasonable proficiency in systems analysis and design.
    • Proficiency in programming.
    • Demonstrated experience creating user specification documentation.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft technologies (Windows Server 2016, IIS Server, Exchange 2016).
    • Database/Database applications experience such as MS SQL, MS Access, Oracle.
    • Experience with Web Application and its related technologies HTML, ASP, Coldfusion, Java.
    • Excellent customer service skills, with at least 2 years customer service experience.
    • Need to be able to communicate well over the phone.
    • Must have excellent people skills when dealing with peers and customers.
