    The IT Application Support Manager is responsible for overseeing RUSM proprietary and shared system to ensure that all activities are designed to deliver a quality user experience and maximum system uptime. The IT Application Support Manager is responsible for enhancing the capabilities and efficiencies of RUSM’s application portfolio by analyzing business application and system needs while working with various business units and IT personnel in the development and support of the company’s business processes and strategies. This includes support in the implementation of targeted systems and functionality to optimize business and academic processes.

    Responsibilities

    • Oversee the support and ongoing operations of propriety business and academic systems, including but not limited to the core shared systems and its interfaces.  
    • Ensure production schedules are met and systems related projects are implemented on-time and within budget.
    • Manage and support the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of proprietary academic and business systems.  Ensure maximum uptime and stability of enterprise applications and member facing systems based on established service level agreements.
    • Identify and execute on continuous improvement of the existing applications support and quality assurance process.
    • Regularly reports against SLAs and objectives and ensures both IT senior management and the business are kept proactively informed of Application Support metrics.
    • Develop and implement all functional policies and Align processes with the ITIL technical framework, to govern and produce consistent results from ancillary application support teams.
    • Collaborate with management and stakeholders to ascertain the business needs and functional/technical requirements that will inform tactical planning, prioritization, development, and implementation of proprietary applications and systems.
    • Manage operations staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions, to ensure the efficient utilization of IT.
    • Proactively manage vendor relationships to control costs, drive service excellence, and mitigate downtime.
    • Work jointly with-it management and various business units to oversee the development, maintenance, documentation, and regular testing of the IT Disaster Recovery plan.
    • Establish and manage the operating budget assigned to the application support cost Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
    • Maintains a strong ethical approach to vendors, customers, and staff which is aligned with the ethical principles of the company.

     Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related degree or equivalent years work experience.
    • One industry leading certification relevant to the job is required, i.e. Server, Database, ITIL, Project+, CAPM, Agile, PMP, etc. Experience implementing or operating within an IT framework such as ITIL, Six Sigma, or COBIT
    • Applications Support Manager will have excellent written and verbal communication skills including technical writing skills.
    • Applications Support Manager will have knowledge of basic principles of Project Management (PMI or similar methodologies).
    • Applications Support Manager Identifies risks, issues, decisions, and assumptions and resolves or escalates them appropriately.

    Experience:

    • PROJECT MANAGEMENT: 4 years (Required)
    • ITIL: 4 years (Required)
    • Firm understanding of the SDLC
    • Applications Support Manager will have proven experience in managing application support and quality assurance teams.
    • Applications Support Manager will have strong vendor management experience.
    • Familiar with Azure and/or AWS
    • Must be analytical and process-oriented and able to apply structure to complex situations.
