    The Student Services Advisor makes a significant contribution to the success of our students by supporting them through their medical education. The Student Service Advisor serves as the primary student interface to provide timely information in response to requests and to handle and resolve student issues. The SSA provides student support by having cross functional knowledge of the entire student experience including: Clinical Advisement, Office of Student and Professional Development and Hospital Partnerships and Compliance. The Student Services Advisor will be part of the Student Services team as well as an integrated student advisement team working collaboratively with other student facing colleagues to provide support services.

     

    Our students will rely on you as their partner and primary resource for information about the financial and academic resources available to help them throughout their academic program. It takes a special set of skills and experience to be effective in these two distinct areas, so we want to meet with people who have passion for education, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and solid commitment to consistently providing exceptional service.

    Responsibilities

     

    • Provide tier 1 advisement to new and continuing students throughout their academic program until graduation
    • Demonstrate comprehensive expertise in all departments and our corresponding policies and procedures
    • Ensure that student information is current, accurate and complete
    • Identify risk factors that may impact students’ academic progress and collaborate with colleagues to address challenges and recommend plans of action to overcome them
    • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to ensure a consistently outstanding educational experience for our deserving students
    • Ensures incoming calls are answered and routed appropriately
    • Reviews and acknowledges student or hospital requests received via phone, fax, e-mail or in-person
    • Expediently manages and maintains request queues in e-mail box or in database
    • Actively participates in teams to continuously learn/improve and drive quality into Ross University’s service to the customer
    • Assist the Director of Student Services with various responsibilities relating to but not limited to the design and implementation of the Student Service Strategy
    • Actively participates in student satisfaction initiatives to improve the student experience
    • Any other duties as may be assigned or required

     

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • Have worked in higher education for at least one year (or have similar directly-relevant experience) preferred
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required and some knowledge of and experience with academic programs such as Salesforce, Banner, ImageNow is preferred.
    • Have an impeccable work ethic and hold yourself accountable to the highest ethical standards
    • Are able to craft and deliver well-written, compelling messages to our students and colleagues
    • Knows and applies fundamental customer service concepts, practices and procedures to create effective customer relationships; possesses working knowledge of basic academic policies and procedures or ability to learn; dependability, strong teamwork skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; ability to meet new challenges with an open mind and an optimistic response
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with staff, faculty and students; excellent computer skills and the ability to use/learn multiple databases and other programs concurrently
    • Demonstrated abilities to work independently and as part of a team
    • Develops and adheres to timelines; ability to organize and prioritize
    • Demonstrates a professional image reflected in behavior, maturity, and integrity
    • Ability and willingness to learn quickly.  Must be service oriented

    • Candidate must be available to meet domestic and international travel requirements; Candidate should be able to travel 10%
    • Must be able to work flexible hours (8:00am-8:00pm Monday-Friday)
