    The Senior Student Finance Systems Analyst will be responsible for performing specific tasks related to development and/or maintenance of the Student Finance system (Banner Financial Aid).  They will have a broad understanding of the Student Finance life cycle and how it relates to system design and functionality, as well as how each system interacts with other institutional systems and third party systems.  They should be cognizant of all the various functions of the Student Finance system and work towards continuous improvement of the life cycle to reduce errors, exceptions and redundancy.  He/She will take a lead role in the development of other less experienced Analysts and provide constructive feedback for their professional development and growth within the organization. 

    Responsibilities

    • Possesses high level of understanding of business areas and/or functions necessary to successfully undertake technical analysis, design, construction and implementation of system improvements.
    • Work together with end-users to make systems adaptable for efficient client interactions and processing functionality.
    • Perform annual modifications of configurable values into Banner Financial Aid and other systems as needed.
    • Supports Policy by ensuring system compliance with Federal, State and Institutional regulations.
    • Tests coded solutions properly against customer acceptance criteria to ensure a quality application.
    • Develops and documents User Acceptance Testing processes and adheres to 4 Process Change Controls required by Internal Audit.
    • Reviews, documents, and recommends technology changes to support or improve existing processes.
    • Translate identified business requirements for complex business changes into a process design for use by the organization Information Technology teams and/or Ellucian.
    • Work with business partners and Information Technology personnel to identify business requirements and system development specifications for business changes and enhancement requests.
    • Research reported issues with Banner Financial Aid and processes, and translate into enhancement as needed.
    • Need to understand the design impacts on reporting, system monitoring and analytics
    • Insures that any data integrations between systems involving Banner Financial Aid are accurate .Leads project tasks associated with the implementation or modification of a Student Finance system.
    • Reports status of all projects to Manager, Business Operations.

    Completes other duties as assigned. 

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Education or Business required, Master’s preferred.
    • Minimum 5 years in student finance role, preferably with strong use of computer applications and an excellent understanding of the end to end student finance life cycle.
    • Minimum of 5 years in a specific functional business related field.
    • Experience working with Banner Financial Aid.
    • Technical skills in understanding SQL.
    • Technical skills in understanding Unix/Linux commands
    • Proficient with understanding and analyzing business needs, designing solutions based on needs, and articulating business impacts.
    • Experience with systems development lifecycle and system management processes, including business requirements, design, and configuration, and user acceptance testing.
    • Detailed and process oriented with demonstrated capabilities in business process design, modeling and requirements analysis; ability to translate into detailed system requirements specifications.
    • Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and COGNOS required.
    • Familiarity with Business Process Management (BPM) methodology (is a plus) and desire experience working with tools/technologies required to facilitate process modeling and documentation.
    • Experience working in multiple Information Technology environments preferred.
    • Advanced written and oral communication skills both in small and large groups. 
    • Excellent ability to train other colleagues on new regulations and processes.
    • Excellent collaboration, facilitation and interpersonal skills.
    • Exceptional organization, problem solving, and analytical skills.
