    In partnership with the MHC Vertical Vice President of Finance and Strategy and the Dean of Ross University School of Medicine, the Senior Director of Finance is responsible for providing leadership, planning and management for maximizing financial performance at Ross University School of Medicine.  The position develops the annual budget, creates rolling forecasts, prepares financial reports, analyzes results, develops financial models and works in cooperation with campus, program, and home office leaders to identify operational efficiencies and revenue-generating opportunities.  


    • Manages and leads the budget, and rolling forecast processes for RUSM and analyzes variances to budget throughout the year.
    • In cooperation with academics, marketing, campus operations and admissions, manages the five-year strategic plan process and development of the corresponding financial projections.
    • Uses deep knowledge of revenue and expense drivers to collaborate with program and functional leaders to identify revenue-generating and cost savings opportunities.
    • Analyzes trends and provides operational and strategic recommendations to executive team. 
    • Provides essential control functions to assure that cascading authorizations are in place so that operating budgets are being followed, capital expenditures are reviewed and approved within guidelines, and variances to plan are quickly identified. 
    • Creates and manages the capital budget and monitors monthly activity to plan.
    • Manages the preparation of financial reports, which includes the RUSM monthly executive summary, income statement, enrollment analysis, quarterly analysis, and various other reporting requirements.
    • Builds custom reports as needed to add value to business operations.
    • Assembles enrollment, revenue and operating income projections for the current fiscal year and the next fiscal year each month for review by executive leadership.
    • Develops models and analysis to improve the budgeting and forecasting processes.
    • Ensures that budget and finance training and support is provided to departmental leaders; maintains regular communication to discuss budgetary and finance issues.
    • Hires, recruits, mentors and coaches team of employees in the US and Barbados.
    • Leads annual tuition pricing recommendations which includes analysis, research and making recommendations to executive management.
    • Partners with marketing, admissions and student affairs in developing scholarship and discount programs that support student enrollment and retention.
    • Works with Board of Trustees’ Finance Chair and reports on financial progress at each Board meeting.
    • Works closely with MHC Vertical Vice President of Finance and Strategy and other Adtalem finance leaders to ensure that RUSM’s financial processes and results are in alignment with ATGE Finance and the MHC Vertical.
    • Partners with other MHC finance leaders to identify synergies and implement best practices.
    • All other duties and responsibilities as requested.


    • Graduate degree or MBA strongly preferred.

    • Bachelor’s degree required in Finance, Business or Accounting.

    • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Finance or related field with demonstrated success in role progression.

    • Demonstrated success in partnering with C-Suite level or equivalent of a multi-location and multi-product business; education or healthcare experience preferred.

    • Excellent analytical skills including Excel and Financial Systems (Cognos/TM1) expertise.

    • Consistently displays leadership integrity and models ATGE’s TEACH values.

    • Experienced manager—strong, independent leader with high sense of accountability who builds collaborative and high-performing teams and has a positive approach to work. 

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities. 

    • Able to collaboratively work with other senior leaders to identify and achieve financial goals.  

    • Ability to lead and manage effectively in a matrixed environment and comfortable in managing ambiguity. 

    • Ability to work under pressure and deliver high quality work product.
