Ross University School of Medicine is seeking an experienced and dynamic

Senior Communicatons Specialist to join thier team.

 

The Senior Communications Specialist is responsible for both internal colleague communications and Admission Marketing support for the University. The successful candidate will develop and execute communication strategies that support of business growth objectives and enhance brand reputation. This critical role will report into the Dean and Chancellor of RUSM and have strong dotted line to the RUSM Sr. Director of Marketing and Adtalem VP of Global Communications.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Dean in colleague, student and alumni communications.
  • Support institutional change through effective and creative communications.
  • Create internal colleague communications: newsletters, email, and magazine content
  • Ensure consistent brand message across all internal and student communications.
  • Identify, interview and craft profiles of students, faculty and alumni to be leveraged for promotional purposes.
  • Ensure marketing and communications are current and utilize a variety of media platforms.  
  • Collaborate with RUSM and Global Communications on internal/external initiatives and campaigns.
  • Support Sr. Director of Marketing in brand and lead generation campaigns via traditional, digital and social vehicles. Craft original content for marketing collateral including Viewbook.
  • Provide consulting and recommendations on communications initiatives with an eye towards continuous improvement.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism or a related field; MS preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in related positions.
  • Exceptional writer and skilled facilitator; Skilled in MS Office and communication suites.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship skills; manages well up, down and across an organization.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time and maintain journalistic quality.
  • Responsive, flexible and deadline-oriented including excellent project management skills.
  • Background in creating and implementing communications plans in support of brand initiatives.
  • Experience conducting probing interviews in context of crafting communications for varied audiences.
  • Strong technical (digital, social) media knowledge and able to target audiences via multiple channels.
  • Experience working with third party agencies preferred.
  • Practical interactions with the publication process for medical journals preferred.

In 2013, RUSM achieved a first-time pass rate of 97 percent on USMLE, which is on par with the rate achieved by US and Canadian schools, and above the rate achieved by osteopathic schools (94 percent) and international schools (79 percent).In 2014, RUSM graduates earned more than 800 residency positions; the largest number for any medical school in the world.
